Woah, look out Lego Masters; this is next level. Over the years, we’ve seen incredible Lego recreations featuring the world’s best automobiles. However, one Lego enthusiast has taken it to the next level, duplicating not only its look, but also the vehicle’s core features including the infamous Crab Mode.
Recently posted to the Toymaker’s Ideas website, Technic-AI has created a fan-made miniature of the GMC Hummer EV. We’re loving this proposed project, not only because it captures the Electric Hummer’s aesthetic, but some of its key features as well. Firstly, the fully detailed exterior looks like the real deal. Using the company’s various expert-level Technic bricks, the 2,200 piece model encapsulates the electric supertruck’s build and personality. Leaving no stone unturned, it features a tonneau cover for the bed, opening doors and a front trunk for all your little Lego luggage. Given the limitations, the interior is pretty detailed too but not quite as comprehensive as the exterior.
The most exciting aspect of this project, highlighted in the video clip from Technic-AI, is its steering and suspension capabilities. Fully functional using a remote control, you can raise and lower the vehicle suspension to get over obstacles, just like the real thing. Impressively, the creator even enabled Crab Walk Mode – this is where the front and rear wheels turn the same way, allowing the vehicle to move diagonally and get itself out of tricky situations off-road.
“At the minute I first saw the new Hummer EV video presentation, I immediately knew that it was to be my next Technic project,” Technic-AI wrote on the model’s Lego Ideas page. “Not only is it all-electric and loaded with technologies, but it has the power of any heavy-duty pick-up truck, excellent off-road capabilities, performance of a supercar and all this can be powered with clean renewable energy.”,
If the model receives 10,000 supporters through the Lego Ideas website between now and November 2022, the toymaker will consider releasing it as a real kit. So if you don’t currently have the cash for the real deal but still want to ‘crab walk’ around your backyard, go support this creation.
