Summer is almost here and the ASICS World Ekiden global race is here to help you put the quarantine kilos behind you. The team-based competition will bring people together for a virtual race like never before. ASICS World Ekiden 2020 promises an exciting and competitive competition no matter your geographical location.
The launch of the ASICS World Ekiden 2020 is a direct response to research from the sportswear brand. The data reveals 69 per cent of active individuals globally miss having a collective goal to work towards. The mental and physical health benefits from exercise are well documented, and ASICS is here to push you into 2021 with a bang.
The virtual stage is set, and it’s a big one, inspired by a century of Japanese running culture. ASICS chief operating officer, Yashuito Hirota describes the excitement surrounding the event, “It may be inspired by one of Japan’s most famous race formats, but the ASICS World Ekiden 2020 really is an event like no other”.
The idea of bringing people together when they’re apart is a key focus of the event. The renewing of connections with each other through the enjoyment of an activity is at the centre, and ASICS will re-energise the love over a shared common goal. The company’s relationship with its runners is at the heart of everything they do and right now that means bringing back the physical, mental and social benefits of team sport.
“At ASICS, listening to runners of all levels and understanding their evolving needs is at the heart of everything we do. Right now, that means helping bring back the mental, physical and social benefits that come with a team sport. But as life continues to change in future, we’ll keep on innovating new products, services and events that deliver the experiences people want.” “But as life continues to change in future, we’ll keep on innovating new products, services and events that deliver the experiences people want”, said Hirota.
If you’re itching to get out of the house like we are, the motivation doesn’t stop there. ASICS has included a give away to celebrate the achievement of everyone who takes part. Teams will be automatically entered to win one of 10 prize packs, including ASICS running shoes, shorts, and t-shirts.
